Mudithani Hettiarachchi, a Research Assistant in the Department of Assessment and Planning, Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Services and a graduate student at College of Education has been offered the TACUSPA Graduate Student Scholarship for the 2018 TACUSPA Fall Annual Conference that will take place on October 21-23 in Houston, TX.
The Texas Association of College & University Student Personnel Administrators (TACUSPA) is a premier state association, dedicated to the development, support and promotion of the student affairs profession in the State of Texas. The organization’s core values include Professional Networking, Professional Development, and Professional Advocacy. Interesting topics for this year's conference include student persistence/retention/completion, diversity, equity and inclusion, mental health, freedom of speech and expression, social justice, and supporting DACA and undocumented students.
The TACUSPA Graduate Student Scholarship is one of the several opportunities for graduate students to get involved in TACUSPA. The TACUSPA Foundation covers the conference fee and new professionals institute. Each scholarship recipient will be recognized at the conference. Mudi will be working with a mentor for the duration of the conference, and she will participate in an after-conference follow-up. Additionally, scholarship recipients are expected to volunteer up to one hour of their time at the conference.
Mudi has served as a Research Assistant in the Department of Assessment and Planning since October 2017. She works with the Director of Assessment and Planning to design, implement, analyze, and share assessment and evaluation efforts for the division and further promote a culture of assessment within the division through the design and delivery of workshops and educational resources for staff.
She is a full-time graduate student at the College of Education and will be obtaining a Master’s of Education in Higher Education under the Department of Educational Leadership & Policy Studies. Mudi expects to graduate in Fall 2018, and she will start her doctoral studies in Higher Education Leadership and Policy Studies under the same department in Fall 2018.
Mudi looks forward to utilizing the information gathered and knowledge gained during the TACUSPA Conference within her role in the Department of Assessment and Planning.
