National Eating Disorder Awareness (NEDA) week will take place February 27, 2017 - March 3, 2017 and UH Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) has partnered with the National Eating Disorders Association to raise awareness about eating disorders. We encourage you to join CAPS, in collaboration with various campus partners, in spreading awareness.

Etiology and Treatments of Eating Disorders with Rebecca Wagner from the Eating Recovery Center

The director of the Eating Recover Center is coming to UH to kick off National Eating Disorders Awareness Week! She will be providing an educational talk about eating disorder signs and symptoms, how to help a friend in need, dispelling common myths/stereotypes, and treatment options. There will also be a large portion dedicated to answering any questions you might have!

Mindful Eating Exercise with UH Nutritionist, Daniel McFeron

Come learn mindful eating skills with UH Nutritionist Danielle McFeron! We hope you can learn to reduce food shaming, strict rules surrounding “good and bad” food and your own judgment around meal times. We will also be talking about how to find healthy meal options on campus!

“Men and Eating Disorders” Movie and Discussion

Do eating disorders only affect women? No! Come watch a short documentary about men in recovery from eating disorders. We will explore how stereotypes and media bias affect our perceptions and increase barriers into seeking treatment.

Let’s learn to “Love Your Selfie”! EveryBODY is beautiful and we will be celebrating our diversity in this exciting event! Come take selfies with us, identify positive self-statements, receive some fun swag, and learn about to increase your body image acceptance!
