Jason Bergeron, Director for the Center for Fraternity and Sorority Life, was awarded the Steven B. Dealph Outstanding Fraternity/Sorority Professional Award during the Association of Fraternal Leadership and Values Conference on February 4, 2017. This award recognizes a fraternity or sorority professional who embodies the values of the profession and exemplifies the values of the organizations that the advisor supports.

Those who nominated Bergeron for this award provided examples of his ethical leadership and impact on the fraternity/sorority community at the University of Houston:

“Everyday Jason serves as a visionary for advancement in our community. As Director, he provides consistent yet ambitious goals, always inspiring students to reach and ascribe for more. As a Panhellenic Advisor, he helps students set goals for the future and helps them work to attain them. As a mentor, he has assisted [myself] and numerous others in following our career goals and dreams by staying invested in our futures and providing advice and feedback to help us succeed.”

“One of the things that I have gained from my work with Panhellenic advisors like Jason is that it is not about not having bias, but about recognizing that bias and knowing when to step back. During recruitment, Jason aided in my application of ethical leadership by advising me of when I had bias, never giving me an answer, but always helping to point me in the right direction to succeed.”

The Steven B. Dealph Award recognizes professionals in the Central and Western regions who have been in the profession for a minimum of three years and who serve as a recognized advisor on their respective campus.

Join us in congratulating Jason Bergeron on receiving the Steven B. Dealph Award.
