New Executive Director of Enrollment Services Communication and Marketing Announced - University of Houston

Effective September 14, 2015, the University of Houston Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Services named De’Awn Bunch the new executive director of Enrollment Services Communication and Marketing.

In this role, she will be responsible for directing the planning, development, and implementation of a comprehensive marketing and communication plan for enrollment services. She will oversee the planning, design, production, and implementation of Enrollment Services media to increase the university’s visibility; including the creative vision for marketing strategies for the Office of Admissions, Scholarships and Financial Aid, and the University Registrar and best practices for recruitment and the development of customer-based management tools. Additionally, she will be responsible for coordinating the on-going assessment and evaluation of current marketing and communication efforts and the monitoring of the operating budget in accordance with university policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with federal and state rules and regulations. De’Awn will serve as the official liaison between Enrollment Services and other university departments in the development and production of outreach materials and communication.

De’Awn most recently served as the interim director for Enrollment Services Communication and Marketing and the communications manager for Student Affairs. Within these positions, she oversaw digital and print communications for the Enrollment Services portfolio and managed the design and production of statement print pieces. She led the content development and schedule of email communications for prospective and current students and parents, faculty, staff, alumni, and community partners. She also served as the advisor for various department and program marketing and communication initiatives.

De’Awn previously served as a multimedia and marketing consultant for the Beaumont Enterprise where she developed launch plans and designed marketing packages for a new entertainment and nightlife magazine, managed over 20 retail and national accounts, provided needs analysis to determine and develop customized advertising packages, and supported national consultants, managers, and publishers with reporting, research projects, and presentations on emerging multimedia strategies and industry trends. De’Awn has also held positions with Lamar State College-Orange, Fleishman-Hillard, and the Houston Chronicle.

De’Awn earned a Master of Business Administration from the C.T. Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston. She received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Emory University. She has worked at the university within the Division since April 2012, and she continues to make connections across the campus to enhance marketing and communications efforts.
