Energy Transition Winds of Change 2025

Friday, May 30, 2025

9:00 am - 1:30 pm

On May 30, the University of Houston hosted Energy Transition Winds of Change 2025: Technology and Policy Implications in the New Market at the Hilton Hotel on campus. Presented by UH Energy and the Center for Carbon Management in Energy (CCME), the event brought together leaders from industry, government, and academia to explore how emerging technologies, shifting policies, and strategic investment are shaping the future of the energy ecosystem.

Opening remarks were delivered by Chuck McConnell, Executive Director of CCME, followed by a special address from U.S. Congressman Robert Latta, who emphasized the importance of bipartisan support for innovation and energy reliability. Two expert panels examined U.S. policy and deployment, as well as global market forces, from carbon capture and permitting reform to the impact of AI-driven energy demand. The discussions underscored the need for pragmatic, scalable solutions that balance decarbonization goals with energy accessibility, resilience, and growth.
