THEYRE CONNECTED! WI-FI INSTALLED IN THE QUADRANGLE & MOODY TOWERS
Students
returning to the Quadrangle and
Moody Towers for the Spring semester
will find that these residence halls
are now fully wireless. UH has
upgraded and improved wireless
network services throughout the
Moody Towers (North, South and MT
Commons area), OB Hall, Settegast
Hall, Taub Hall, Law Residence Hall
and Bates Residence Hall. This was
done in response to resident
feedback indicating students wanted
the ability to possess and use
multiple mobile devices such as
laptops, smartphones and tablets in
their rooms and anywhere else in the
residence halls.
Previously, wireless services were
available only in the lobbies of
Moody Towers and the Quadrangle.
However, over the winter break UH IT
added 38 Access Points (APs) in
Moody Towers and 40 APs in the
Quadrangle to make wireless services
available throughout the buildings.
In addition to mobile devices,
students can access the wireless
services through their desktop
computer with the use of a wireless
card.
UHWireless is the associated
wireless network for Residential
Life and Housing and also throughout
the university. The wireless
services for Residential Life and
Housing is now at par with the rest
of the campus.
Wireless services are separate from
and in addition to the wired network
also available in the residence
halls. Wired network enhancement
will be scheduled sometime in the
future.
For more information about the
wireless network in the residence
halls, contact Javier Hidalgo,
