Students Can Now Order Textbooks
When They Register For Classes
Houston, April 10, 2009 When
registration for summer classes
begin, students will have a way to
estimate their textbook expenses,
reduce time spent in line, and
increase their chance of getting
used books by ordering their
textbook when they register for
classes.
This service provides an enhanced,
seamless process for textbook
ordering, said Esmeralda Valdez,
director of business services. In
this economy, we know that price is
important so we want to offer every
opportunity for students to be able
to order used textbooks or digital
editions.
The added service on student
PeopleSoft will not alter the way
students register for classes but
provide the opportunity for them to
order their textbooks online via the
UH Bookstore website from the
PeopleSoft registration page. After
students select their courses, and
view the My Class Schedule page,
they will have the option of
visiting the UH Bookstore website by
clicking on the Your Campus
Textbook button at the bottom of
the page.
This will direct them to the UH
Bookstore website where they will be
able to view textbook information
including ISBN and retail pricing.
Students can then choose to create
an account to purchase the books
with the option of having the books
shipped or have them packaged for
customer pick-up at the UH
Bookstore. Book orders will be ready
for shipping or pick up
approximately two weeks before
classes begin. There is no charge
for using this service but delivery
fees apply if students chose to have
their books delivered to a location
other than the bookstore.
It is important to note that
textbook integration in PeopleSoft
will provide a vehicle for
populating textbook information into
the UH Bookstore website. All
textbook transactions processed will
be handled by the UH Bookstore and
not the University of Houston. If a
student drops a class after ordering
their books, they will need to
contact the UH Bookstore to correct
their order or request a refund for
the book no longer needed.
For more information about using
this service, contact the UH
Bookstore during regular business
hours at 713-748-0923 or via email
at
