University of Houston Police Department Welcomes the New Chief of Police

The University of Houston Police Department welcomed the new Chief of Police on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 in a public swearing in ceremony. In a private ceremony the day before, Assistant Vice President for Public Safety & Security and, at the time, Chief of Police Malcolm C. Davis passed the torch over to new Chief of Police Ceaser Moore, Jr.

During a community ceremony, Assistant Vice President for Public Safety & Security Malcolm C. Davis shared a little insight on the process of hiring the new Chief of Police. He also shared how Chief Moore was such an outstanding choice.

After the swearing in ceremony, Chief Moore discussed his experience at the Houston Police Department as a police officer. Later he talked about what it takes to be a police officer and especially what it takes to be a campus police officer. His speech was inspiring and warmly welcomed by the troops. After the presentation and speeches, a line magically formed with members of the Department of Public Safety who wanted to shake the hand of the new Chief of Police. About every two or three seconds you could hear, Welcome aboard Chief.

AVP Davis commented, Having Chief Moore join my team at the University of Houston is very exciting. I look forward to seeing his new and innovative ideas.
