AUXILIARY SERVICES AND ARAMARK RECOGNIZED FOR OUTSTANDING COLLABORATION AND PARTNERSHIP

In the summer of 2010, the Moody Towers 33,000-square-foot dining hall was renovated into the highly acclaimed Fresh Food Company in only 92 days. At the 2012 National Association of College Auxiliary Services (NACAS) South Annual Conference, UH Auxiliary Services and ARAMARK, the universitys food service provider, received the Outstanding Collaboration and Partnership Award to commend their team effort in transforming the universitys residential dining service.

The award was presented during the NACAS South Annual Conference in Austin, Texas on May 5-9. Auxiliary Services and ARAMARK were selected by the NACAS awards committee over several nominations throughout the region for demonstrating a tremendous effort to accomplish the goals of the University and NACAS through the implementation of innovative ideas and initiatives with support of the food services partnership, according to Angela Peterson, Chair of NACAS South Awards Committee.

The renovation of the Moody Towers dining facility was identified as an initiative to support recruitment and retention efforts at the University of Houston as well as assist the strategic mission of reaching Tier One status. Auxiliary Services and ARAMARK were challenged to make this vision a reality but due to the campus calendar, the renovations must be completed from start to finish during the summer break. With ARAMARKs expertise in dining coupled with the Universitys commitment, the project was completed and ready for a fall 2011 opening.

ARAMARK is proud to be a co-recipient of this NACAS award, said Tony Urso, Resident District Manager for UH Dining Services. Our collaborative efforts proves how well two entities can come together for a common goal.

Esmeralda Valdez, Executive Director of Auxiliary Services, added, Special thanks to Student Government Association, Residential Hall Association, and the entire student body and UH community for their assistance in the success of the complete transformation of the Moody Towers dining hall. We couldnt have done it without your support!
