<p>Holistic care is at the core of UH Health, where the next generation of providers are trained to see innovation as inherently interdisciplinary. Faculty and students studying medicine, behavioral health, nursing, pharmacy, optometry, social work, music therapy and more are addressing the clinical factors that cause chronic disease. Comprised of the on-campus Family Care Center, the in-community Household- Centered Care Program and a suite of allied medical programs, UH Health is cultivating an ecosystem of empowerment for the entire community by removing the barriers that prevent underserved populations from receiving care.</p>

Researchers say 1 in 3 students face food insecurity, while many consider leaving college altogether due to financial stress. Investing in their sense of stability renews students’ relationships with academia, while reaping immense rewards in performance and retention. The Cougar Cupboard — an on-campus food pantry designed to meet students’ needs with dignity — is one of many holistic programs UH is implementing to ensure students are equipped with all the resources they need to succeed.</p>
