UH COMMUNITY FOR HIS SUCCESS

Javier Hidalgo, associate director of operations for the University of Houston’s Residential Life and Housing, is definitely a people person.

The Staff Excellence Award recipient has worked on campus for 16 years, and credits the community for his lengthy stay at UH.

“Working alongside so many great individuals has been very rewarding,” he said. “This award is a reflection on the staff with whom I work.”

Hidalgo’s career at UH began when he was a student in the College of Technology. After earning his master of science degree in electronic engineering, he remained at the university.

“He has done an excellent job of protecting the integrity of the residence halls and preserving their value to the university,” wrote one colleague in Hidalgo’s nomination letter.

The award includes a $1,000 check.
