PROFESSOR TRAVELS GREAT LENGTHS FOR STUDENTS

Guillermo de los Reyes Heredia is a man of great diligence and enthusiasm.

Last spring, the assistant professor of Spanish traveled to a graduate conference to attend every presentation given by UH students and contributed to the discussions during the time for comments and questions for each panel.

For his outstanding devotion to students and fellow faculty,
de los Reyes earned a Provost’s Core Teaching Excellence Award.

“He possesses a gentle humor and integrity that are both evident and contagious,” one student wrote in an evaluation. “He inspired me to seek further answers outside of the classroom and to see many things in a different light.”

As part of the award, he will receive a trophy and a $5,000 check. Nominees must be tenured or tenure track faculty demonstrating excellence in teaching.
