Be Prepared By Creating An Emergency Supply Kit

Houston, Sept 15, 2014 — Because it is National Preparedness Month, now is a great time for the UH community to focus on building an emergency kit.

When building a kit, remember to include enough supplies for at least three days with a recommendation of seven days. The kit should include first aid supplies, any prescription/non-prescription medications, sanitation and hygiene supplies, equipment, tools, food, water, clothes, important documents, keys and cash.

The University of Houston Office of Emergency Management also offers a kit checklist with its 72 Hour Emergency Campus/Travel Preparedness Kit Checklist.

Many more resources are available on the UH Office of Emergency Management website. Also, like them on their University of Houston Office of Emergency Management Facebook page where periodic tips and resources are provided.
