The Conrad Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management and
Barron’s Restaurant present the Spring 2004 International
Dinner Series. Student-run dinners feature different cuisines

The University of Houston Law Center presents Jason Berry, author
of, “Vows of Silence The Abuse of Power in the Papacy of
John Paul II.” Berry’s book suggests John Paul II
sanctioned the punishment of earnest, intellectual priests who
dared to ask hard questions about traditional teachings and worked

Lecture: Samuel Walker
The U H Law Center’s Criminal Justice Institute presents
Samuel Walker of the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Professor
Walker is the leading scholar on civilian review boards for law
enforcement. He will speak on police use of force reporting systems,
the need for open and accessible citizen complaint procedures,
early intervention systems and effective forms of citizen oversight

Screening: “Marriage in the
Shadows”
This film series “Shadows and Sojourners: Images of Jews
and Antifascism in East German Film” is touted as the first
North American retrospective of East German films representing
German/Jewish relations, antifascism and the Holocaust. “Marriage
in the Shadows” is the first postwar German film to address
the persecution of Jews in Nazi Germany. Based on the true story
of an acclaimed German theater couple, Jewish actress Meta Baer
Gottschalk and her non-Jewish husband Joachim. “Marriage
