Executive MHM Program Information
The Executive Master in Hospitality Management (MHM) is a unique online program that gives its graduates a competitive edge to lead and excel in today’s customer-centric marketplace. With a focus on the consumer experience, customer engagement, and the co-creation of value, this degree allows students to refine their professional and academic skills through personal application and development.

The traditional master’s program is designed for students who have limited professional and managerial experience. The executive program was developed to offer emerging leaders resources to manage change and implement new practices.
The program is designed to be completed in one-year starting each January and finishing in December of the same year. However, you have the option to schedule classes to fit your needs and complete the program in two years.

Admissions/Application
The deadline to submit items for the January start date is December 1. The deadline for Fall submissions is July 1. We recommend you submit your application items well in advance of the published deadlines. Applications are evaluated once complete.
Students are admitted on a rolling basis. To be considered for admission, in addition to submitting application items, an applicant must meet the following requirements:
- Apply online at www.applyweb.com/uhouston
- Resume. Supervisory/managerial or educator experience required.
- Statement of intent. A concise description of why you want to pursue the Executive Master of Hospitality Management program. Approximately 250 words, double-spaced.
- Official college transcripts. The recommended undergraduate cumulative GPA is 3.0 or higher for the last 60 hours of coursework. A bachelor’s degree is required.
- Three letters of recommendation.
International applicants may be required to submit official TOEFL or IELTS scores and must comply with the English proficiency requirements set by the University of Houston and outlined here .
We want to partner with you for smooth and efficient application processing. The earlier you submit all of your application materials, the earlier you will receive an admission decision. The following is an approximate timeline based on application materials:
• To receive an application submitted online – 1 to 2 business days from submission
• To receive payment submitted in the online application – 3 to 4 business days from submission
• To receive official test scores – 2 weeks once requested
• For evaluation of official transcripts – 2 to 3 weeks, but peak periods can take up to 6 to 8 weeks
• Once the application is complete and has been forwarded for an admission decision – 4 weeks
The earlier you submit your application and all supporting documents, the earlier you will receive an admission decision. We review applications throughout the year.

Expenses and Financial Aid
The University of Houston System Board of Regents sets and approves program costs each year. Scholarships are available on a limited basis for top applicants to receive in-state tuition rates and additional awards. These values are subject to change at the discretion of the Board of Regents prior to the start of the program.
Students may apply for Hilton College scholarships. UH has several other options available. Scholarships are available on a limited basis for top applicants to receive in-state tuition rates and additional awards.
Information for International Students
The application deadline for admittance for the January start date is October 1. All materials must be submitted at this time for admission consideration.
- The minimum TOEFL score required is 79 for the internet-based test, with a minimum writing score of 20. The minimum TOEFL score for the paper-based exam is 550, with a minimum writing score of 58.
- The minimum IELTS score required is an overall score of a 6.5, with a minimum writing score of 6.5.
- TOEFL scores must be received directly from Educational Testing Service (ETS). The University of Houston’s ETS institutional code is 6870.
- The testing agency should mail the official results directly to the University of Houston at this address:
