Spherical Area
The surface area of a sphere with radius R is 4pR2. Since one line cuts our surface in half, a hemisphere has area 2pR2. Why is that pi showing up?
Construct four lines that meet at p/4. What is the area of one of these lunes? Note that there are 8 congruent lunes. Do it on your models while I sketch a topview for you.
