Honors Credit for Philosophy

Honors
students must complete one additional project or short essay to fulfill the
requirements to receive Honors credit in this course. Essay
or project due November 17.
The
usual route is to complete a critical and exegetical essay on a reading from
the anthology or from another essay on the philosophy of art. The rough page
length guideline is 3 pages. The essay should (a) explain key points and
arguments of the article and (b) raise several critical questions or problems
about the essay.
An
alternative available for arts majors is to submit an artwork or series of
works (or CD) accompanied by a short artist’s statement (1 and ½ pages)
explaining the idea or rationale behind the work, and relating that work to
some topic or essay read for this course.
If you
wish to propose another alternative, you must submit it in writing (e-mail is
fine) and receive approval before proceeding.; do this
at least one month in advance.
