Emily Schwass (she/her/hers) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker-Supervisor, with over a decade of experience in the social work field. Originally from Chicago suburbs, she has been living in Texas since 2017. She holds a Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of St. Francis in Illinois and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology with a concentration in Social Welfare from Augustana College in Illinois.
Emily has extensive experience working in diverse settings, including non-profit community mental health centers, partial hospitalization programs, inpatient psychiatric hospitals, and higher education. Before assuming her role as Associate Director of SMSS, she served as a therapist at UH Counseling and Psychological Services.
Emily is deeply committed to trauma-informed care, understanding the significant impact trauma can have on both mental health and academic success.
In her free time, she enjoys taking care of her plants, reading, re-watching her favorite TV shows, being outdoors, and spending time with her family, friends, and her dog, Marlee.
