Career Development Specialist
Liaison to the College of Architecture and Design, the College of Global Hospitality Leadership, and Exploratory Studies
Lauren Hermann serves University Career Services as a Career Counselor and liaison for the Conrad N. Hilton College of Global Hospitality Leadership, the Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture and Design, and Exploratory Studies. Additionally, Lauren supervises graduate interns and supports the departments’ assessment activities. She also is an instructor for the Student Success course (CORE 1101) for incoming freshmen at the University of Houston.
Lauren has over seven years of experience counseling students, and holds certifications in the Strong Interest Inventory, Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, and is a Licensed Professional Counselor. Lauren earned her Master of Education in Counseling and Bachelor of Science in Communications from The University of Texas at Austin.
Lauren’s previous experience includes assisting students in crisis through Student Emergency Services at UT Austin, supporting career development as an intern at Texas State University, and developing the career center at North American University. Before pursuing a career in counseling, Lauren worked as an orientation advisor and event planner.
Lauren is driven to help students and alumni handle life transitions, particularly when it comes to making career decisions and transitioning to college and the workforce. Lauren approaches career counseling holistically and encourages students to learn about themselves and their options to confidently identify and reach their career goals. Lauren loves the work she does and is determined to help others do the same.
