Living on Campus

Students who live on campus are more satisfied with their college experience, earn higher grades, and are more likely to graduate than their commuting peers.  Tier One Scholars receive an unparalleled two years of on campus living, including a meal plan, at no cost to the student. [See current housing and meal plan costs.]

Tier One Scholars will be housed in Cougar Village, our newest housing community, on a first come, first serve basis. There, they will live among their high-achieving peers including National Merit Scholars, Terry Scholars, and Honors College members.  Other floors and wings of Cougar Village are organized in unique themed housing geared towards a common interest such as business, wellness, the arts, community service, or sustainability.

"From the very first moment I stepped foot on the UH campus, I felt like I was home. Everyone I've met here has been so welcoming and supportive! My teachers and advisors are amazing. The close friends I’ve made so far will be my good friends for a very long time!

I am very close to my family, so having the ability to be close to home while still experiencing independence in Cougar Village was a big advantage. I know that I made the right decision in choosing UH! "

Save Time
Living on campus is convenient. You will not waste time driving back and forth to school or looking for a place to park. You will only be five minutes from everything that UH has to offer.  With your included meal plan, breakfast, lunch, and dinner (and maybe a few snacks) are only steps away.

Get Involved
Hone your leadership skills by joining student organizations. UH has over 500 organizations to choose from - everything from Greek to honors, social to political, ethnic to special interest. Visit the Center for Student Involvement for more information. Show your school spirit by attending football games and other sporting events. Visit Houston Athletics for more information.

Stay active
Join a sports club or intramural team. Stop by the Rec Center and take a swim or dive in the pool and climb the rock wall. An active lifestyle is easy and convenient when living on campus.

Enrich your learning
Increase your academic experience by attending special lectures, art exhibits, theatre and music performances and events.

Make new friends
Most importantly, living on campus allows you to make life-long friendships. Meet people from diverse backgrounds and take your first steps toward an independent lifestyle.
