President: Lois Nicolas

Vice President/President Elect: Lois Nichols

Lois has worked at UH for nearly 20 years and has been in the College of Technology for over 16 years. She worked as an adjunct professor and elementary school librarian before coming to UH. She has volunteered at Texas Children’s Hospital for 12 years and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo for 7 years. She is a mother and grandmother who loves to do handicrafts and travel.

Secretary: Kirk Petrash

Career Counselor, Dean’s Office

Kirk recently transitioned from working as an Academic Advisor for the Engineering Technology department to training for a new role as a Career Counselor within the College of Technology. He joined the CoT Staff Council because he wanted to network with new departments with which he doesn’t often have the opportunity to work and to stay better informed about the College. Kirk has been at UH for about two and a half years and is excited to have the opportunity to continue to grow his relationships within the College.

Treasurer: Matt Oltremari

Program Manager, Human Development and Consumer Sciences

Matt has been working at the University of Houston as the Program Manager for Human Development and Consumer Sciences since July 2016. In addition to the various responsibilities that he is charged with in his position, he has also served as a volunteer for numerous program, department, college, and university events. Matt possesses nearly 20 years of internal communications experience and has a great working relationship with many individuals within the College of Technology…both of which he believes will serve him well as a member of the CoT Staff Council.

Liaison to UH Staff Council: Vicki Cerna-Bell

College Research Administrator, Dean’s Office

Vicki has served as the College Research Administrator since 2017. In her current position, she works with CoT faculty and Division of Research in the coordination of documentation for various projects, proposal submissions, subawards, and agreements. Vicki’s professional background includes administrative management, grants management, contracts processing, policy & procedure development, and accounting activities. She believes in continuous learning and supporting everyone’s efforts to achieve their goals. While at CoT, she has attained her certification as a Certified Research Administrator through the Research Administrators Certification Council and is currently working on her MBA. Vicki is a proud UH alum and looks forward to working with CoT staff.

Jennifer Knobloch

Events Chair: Jennifer Knobloch

College Events Coordinator, Dean’s Office

Jennifer is a second generation Coog and alum from the Conrad N. Hilton College, who has been employed as the College Events Coordinator for over 4 years. She has planned and executed events including tailgates, award galas, retreats, industry board meetings, and faculty/staff appreciation events to name a few. She is also involved with the College’s student organizations and serves as the College’s staff representative on the Technology Alumni Association Board. Jennifer joined the CoT Staff Council because she wants to engage and support her fellow staff members. She looks forward to assisting in the planning of events and workshops that encourage staff recognition and build motivation.
