Letter from TAA president

Hello Fellow Coogs,

We hope that you are that you are healthy, feeling well, and making the most of your time.

I am the current president of the Technology Alumni Association (TAA).  I have been working with the TAA for many years, often behind the scenes; and, I decided to get more involved in helping it grow and thrive.  Our board members are dedicated and passionate Cougars:

Vice President - Sandra Juarez (’14)

Secretary - Maricela Olivio (’16)

Treasurer - Andre Small (’10)

At Large Members - Sean Joseph (’96), Adrian Villarreal (’16),

Carmel Glumac (’12), and Terry King (B.S. ’13, M.S. ’17)

We have been busy this year. My hope is that you were able to join us in some of the events such as the tailgates, Tech Tuesdays at Little Woodrow’s, the UH Edison Lecture Series, and virtual coffee chats.  We honored the TAA scholarship recipient, Elysha Garcia, with a luncheon and look forward to selecting a new recipient very soon.  In addition, we made a donation on behalf of all Technology Alumni to the Cougar Emergency Relief Fund.

Although we had other events planned, they were put on hold or cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  However, we are making plans for the future.  If you are interested in getting involved, use the online volunteer form to let us know. If any committee or project interests you, a member of that particular committee will reach out to you.

In the meantime stay engaged with the Technology Alumni by attending the morning virtual Coffee Chats. Look for email invitations from the College.

Our goal is to host an open board meeting in August and the date will be posted on this website and in social media. Visit the College of Technology website to learn more about the College, future activities and stay engaged. I look forward to meeting you soon. We look forward to your comments or suggestions.
