There are many resources on the web with good information about building your career and finding the right job for you. We can recommend the following external websites as having been helpful to some of our recent graduates.

Career readiness is the attainment and demonstration of requisite competencies that broadly prepare college graduates for a successful transition into the workplace.

College Readiness Handbook
The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) recently developed a College Readiness Handbook in partnership with the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC). The handbook is designed to provide post-secondary students, regardless of age or background, with information on how to prepare for their transition into the workforce.

Buzzfile
Search Buzzfile's vast database of 18 million companies, 50 million contacts and 6 million places to uncover more prospective employers. Build, save, edit and share prospect lists. Research companies, view competitors, industries and tenant lists.

Texas Internship Challenge
The Texas Internship Challenge is a partnership between the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC), Texas Education Agency (TEA) and The Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB), who challenge employers to offer paid internships and make it easy for students to search and apply for them.

PathwaysToScience.org is an excellent resource for finding both paid summer research programs and fully funded STEM graduate programs. Use the website to search:

  • Paid summer research programs for undergrads and grad students, including opportunities funded by NSF, NASA, NOAA, etc.
  • Fully funded STEM masters programs
  • Fully funded STEM PhD programs
