Students Publish Op-Eds
Students from Professor Suzanne Pritzker's Advanced Social Policy Analysis course opinion pieces on the Women’s Health Program and The Violence Against Women Act published in the Daily Cougar.
"In our view, the efforts of the Republican Party to prevent Texas women from accessing quality reproductive care from Planned Parenthood-affiliated clinics in Texas is the latest roadblock for women who have been given the least opportunities to better their position. Rick Perry has embraced a flawed philosophy that more restrictive laws will change a woman’s mind about whether or not to have an abortion."--Read more from GCSW first year students Constance Seré, Meredith Parsley and Margot Williams' opinion piece on the Women's Health Program.
"According to the U.S. Department of Justice, nearly 20 percent of college women and six percent of college men will become victims of attempted or completed sexual assault. This was made evident last week when a female UH student was attacked at a nearby gas station. She was luckily victorious in fighting off her three attackers who attempted to sexually assault her, but not many individuals are so lucky."--Read more from GCSW GCSW first year students, Maria Reyna, Christina Veillon, Scarlett Badal and Amanda Deloy opinion piece on The Violence Against Women Act.
