UH Spinout Sensytec MassChallenge Winner

MassChallenge targets startup companies seeking to break new ground, revolutionize industries, and make an impact in the world.

Congratulations are in order for UH spinout startup Sensytec!

MassChallenge Texas selected three startups as winners of its inaugural Houston program. Two of the three startups are from Space City.

MassChallenge Texas named Noleus Technologies Inc. and Sensytec Inc., both based in Houston, along with NeuroRescue Inc. of Louisiana as the winners of the accelerator’s Houston cohort.

The program saw its climactic finale take place on September 5th at the House of Blues in Houston, where Sensytec took home the big $40,000 investment prize thanks to the Houston Angel Network.

Sensytec engineers “smart cement” technology that enhances quality control and monitoring of cement and concrete structures, providing cloud based structural health monitoring solutions for safer construction. The Houston-based company’s goal is to revolutionize the archaic and inefficient monitoring that construction and oil and gas companies still use.

MassChallenge is a Boston-based nonprofit accelerator program with locations all over the country. During its Houston debut, the program aimed at local startups that have produced less than $1 million in revenue in the last year.

"It took a city-wide effort to bring MassChallenge here," Mayor Sylvester Turner said in a news release. "Now I am proud to see how much has been accomplished in only nine months since the announcement of Houston as their second Texas-based location."
