President Message

“If we knew what it was we were doing, it would not be called research, would it?”

Albert Einstein said that, tongue in cheek perhaps, but his basic point is sound: pure research pursues knowledge for its own sake. How fortunate we are all, however, when such research also solves serious problems and improves everyone’s lives. In this issue of Research & Innovation magazine, we take a good look at the practical applications derived from the wide range of exploration and inquiry being conducted at the University of Houston and salute those whose innovative work benefits us all.

With warm regards

Renu Khator

President, University of Houston
