Flipped Learning is based on knowledge transfer to students that takes place outside the classroom through course videos prepared by professors and shared on a digital platform. In this way, the classroom is transformed into a dynamic and interactive group learning space.
Applying the Flipped Learning model at the institutional level, Professor Sahin recognized that a contemporary approach to education ought to match the needs of today’s students. MEF University focuses on three areas: contemporary learning and teaching approaches; unique transnational degree programs suited to the needs of Generation Y and Z students; and, an English Language Preparatory Program in which all instructors would be native speakers, providing an immersive language environment with a distinctive international outlook for students.
Professor Sahin is immediate past president of Istanbul Technical University and author of “The New University Model: Flipped, Adaptive, Digital and Active Learning (FADAL)”. He received his master’s degree from University College London in 1991, and his Ph.D. degree from University of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne.
