Clustered data arise in many contexts including, but not limited to: (a) data on students who are nested within classrooms, and (b) data collected at specific time points nested within individuals. When data are clustered one can distinguish how variables relate between clusters from how those same variables relate within clusters. The overall relationship is a function of the within and between cluster relationships.  

Speaker Bio:

Professor Paulina Kulesz works as a Research Assistant Professor in the Texas Institute of Measurement, Evaluation, and Statistics (TIMES) at the University of Houston. For the past six years, she has been working as a statistician on a variety of projects including, but not limited to, the analysis of partially nested designs and fully nested designs with random effects with both categorical and continuous outcomes with balanced and incomplete longitudinal follow-up. Her research largely focuses on evaluating malleable factors that affect children’s clinically related and educational outcomes.
