The CITE grant program is the central mechanism for identifying and supporting co-curricular experiences. The CITE program will award around $300,000 in grants each year for five years beginning in the summer of 2019. Interdisciplinary projects and college- or department-level projects that have the potential to impact a large number of students are preferred.
Interested individuals or teams are welcome to submit proposals for review by the CITE Advisory Board.
- Prior to submitting a proposal, applicants are required to submit a preproposal. This document will help the CITE Director evaluate the feasibility of a project and its relevance for CITE. The Director will also facilitate relationships with potential partners on and off campus.
- Grant recipients can reapply for a second year of funding for the same project through the renewal application. However, there is no guarantee that grant recipients will receive additional funding after the initial grant and funding beyond a second year is not available through CITE. Grant recipients can also apply for a no-cost extension if they do not use all of their awarded funds in the first year of the project.
- All proposals and preproposals must discuss how the project would comply with social distancing and travel restrictions. We welcome projects that can be conducted online or in HyFlex.
Previous grant recipients will be able to submit proposals for new projects.
Grant Proposal Timeline
CITE considers grant proposals on a rolling basis as funds are available. For the 2020-2021 school year, proposals must be submitted by October 15 for spring 2021 programs, by February 15 for summer 2021 programs, and by May 17 for fall 2021 programs. Preproposals should be submitted at least two weeks before the proposal deadline (October 1 for spring 2021 programs, February 1 for summer 2021 programs, and May 3 for fall 2021 programs). Faculty are encouraged to submit their proposals and preproposals before these deadlines if possible.
The CITE Advisory meets regularly during the academic year to review grant proposals. In most cases, proposals submitted by the fifteenth of the month will receive a response no later than the middle of the next month. The Advisory Board does not meet in late December, so proposals submitted after November 15 will not be considered until after the January 15 deadline has passed.
The CITE Advisory Board has three possible responses to proposals:
- Proposal is recommended to the Provost for funding.
- Proposal is returned to the authors for revision.
- Proposal is not considered appropriate for CITE.
The CITE Advisory Board will consider grant proposals submitted after the published deadline if funds are available.
