Can I go to Cub Camp instead of New Student Orientation?

What materials do I need for Camp?

Cub Camp 2021 programs will take place on Zoom and will be accessible via mobile and web browser, however we recommend students utilize a desktop or laptop for the best experience. We also recommend headphones and a device that is video capable.

How much does Cub Camp cost?

There is a one-time fee of $40 for the virtual camp. This reduced fee will be added to your tuition and fee bill by August 13th.

This means you will pay for Cub Camp at the same time as your fall classes. Whatever method of payment you are using for tuition can also apply to your Cub Camp fee.

How will I access camp?

All Cub Camp 2021 programs will be accessible via Zoom. All registered campers will recieve an email with the appropriate links closer to your session.

What activities will we be doing?

Virtual Cub Camp is made up of small and large group activities with your individual camp, as well as all camp evening activities. Expect to participate in group discussions and teambuilding games. All participants may choose their activity level, however we encourage campers to step outside of their comfort zone as much as they are able.

Please inform our staff of any accomodations you may need during the registration process.

I’m an international student. Can I come to camp?

No. The dates for Cub Camp 2021 conflict with the dates for the mandatory International Student Orientation. International students must also attend New Student Orientation, as this is the official means by which you accept your offer of admissions from the University of Houston.

I am attending the Honors Retreat in August. Can I also attend Cub Camp?

Yes, students can attend both Cub Camp and the Honors Retreat in August. Neither the dates nor content covered at each event overlap. Students attending both Cub Camp and the Honors Retreat will gain a broader cross-campus community at Cub Camp, and a smaller, more specific community at the Honors Retreat.

What do I need to do between now and camp?

Bring on your Cougar Spirit! One week prior to the camp date, you will receive a final confirmation email with general reminders, including links to join out virtual programs. In the meantime, join the Cub Camp GroupMe and get to know our staff and other campers!

If you are registered for Cub Camp and have not yet received any emails from us, please email us at to ensure that we have yourcorrect contact information.

What does the fee cover?

The reduced $40 fee for Cub Camp includes online programs, t-shirts and other Camp swag, as well as any other materials provided.

All Cub Camp t-shirts, etc. will be distributed after Cub Camp. Look out for an email from us with further instructions.

Is Cub Camp providing overnight accomodations for Cub Camp 2021?

No. All Cub Camp 2021 virtual programs are accessible from anywhere you have internet access.
