Class of 2027

Welcome Class of 2027!

We recognize that students come with a variety of experiences and expectations. The Office of Retention and Graduation Initiatives’ goal is to help you be successful throughout the various stages of your academic journey. Our First Year Team works collaboratively across the institution to provide new students with the academic and social resources needed to successfully transition to college life and progress towards degree completion.

Peer Assistant Leaders

Peer Assistant Leaders (PALs) work in The Office of Retention and Graduation Initiatives, whose mission is to assist University of Houston students in successful degree progress to graduation.

PALs work closely with professional staff and are trained on how to effectively coach students. PALs are assigned a group of students that they regularly communicate with to help them succeed academically. PALs coach their assigned students while identifying and assisting with potential academic barriers. PALs are expected to have the interpersonal skills necessary for working with students, both individually and in groups.

UH in 4

The UH in 4 program is a partnership between the University and students to support graduation within four years. The program provides a comprehensive plan to help students navigate their four-year college experience.
