Each day, University of Houston students are raising the bar in the classroom and in our city. Whether it’s through scholarly activities, academic performance or community engagement, Cougars are doing truly amazing things.
UH Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost Diane Z. Chase wants to share just some of these students’ stories through the new video feature, "Provost Profiles."
Each month, Chase will sit down with a student and discuss their work at UH, their goals after graduation and what motivates them to succeed at the University.
In this inaugural edition of Provost Profiles, she meets Briana Azad.
Azad, a Spanish and psychology double major, was recently awarded the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa Key into Public Service. The Honors College student contributes her energy to the community as a project lead for UH’s Wildlife and Environmental Advocacy and Relief (WEAR). The initiative helps promote awareness of the health and environmental risks faced by residents of Houston’s Fifth Ward.
Azad also is a project lead for the Science Mentoring to Achieve a Richer Tomorrow (SMART) program. In this role, she helps Third Ward children learn math and science. Recently, Briana also has been spotlighted on UH’s Scholars Walk.
