Pharm.D. alumna Jodie Gee ('09) recently had two research posters accepted for presentation at ADA meetings. At the ADA 29th Annual Clinical Conference on Diabetes May 22-25 at Marco Island, Fla., Gee's poster entitled "Improvement in diabetes related outcomes with a clinical pharmacist in a private healthcare system clinic" was one of only four to be elevated to an oral platform presentation. More recently, Gee presented her poster entitled "The impact of a clinical pharmacist in the primary care setting on diabetes related outcomes" at the ADA's 74th Scientific Sessions June 13-17 in San Francisco, Calif.

Gee is currently a clinical associate professor at the University of Texas-Austin College of Pharmacy and UT Health Science Center in San Antonio, with a practice site at Baptist Health System's MedFirst Northeast Clinic. In August, Gee will move back to Houston and begin a new position as a clinical pharmacy specialist with Harris Health System.

Two alumni of UHCOP's Pharmacy Administration graduate programs - Rituparna Bhattacharya and Satabdi Chatterjee - were among only 18 posters accepted for presentation in the Student Research Poster Competition at the 50th Annual Meeting June 15-19 in San Diego, Calif.

Bhattacharya was recognized with a second place finish for her presentation, entitled "Budget Impact Analysis of Tofacitinib for Treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis." Chatterjee's presentation was entitled, "Anticholinergic Use and Risk of Pneumonia in Elderly Medicare Beneficiaries: A Nested Case-Control Study."

Bhattacharya recently completed a Ph.D. program at West Virginia University after receiving her M.S. in Pharmacy Administration (Pharm Ad) from UHCOP in 2011. Currently working as a postdoctoral research position at UHCOP, Chatterjee earned her Pharm Ad Ph.D. and master's degree from the college in 2013 and 2010, respectively. Both alumni received travel awards from DIA to present at the meeting.

(Note: The Ph.D. program has been renamed to "Pharmaceutical Health Outcomes and Policy," and the M.S. degree is no longer being offered.)
