2021 Pharmacy Summer Camp (Virtual)
June 14-17

$150 per student (includes activity kits/shipping-and-handling costs; T-shirt; and gift)
Open to Junior and Senior High School Students

Eligibility requirements: High school transcript and Letter of Recommendation from Counselor or Teacher

In effort to encourage the pursuit of professional pharmacy and other health and research careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields, UH College of Pharmacy offers an annual 3 1/2-day Pharmacy Summer Camp for junior and senior high school students.

Attendance is limited; applicants are accepted on a rolling basis. Applicants are accepted to the deadline or when all slots are filled. Upon acceptance, participants/parents will be notified with further instructions, including payment remittance.

    Receive tips and guidance on how to prepare for your education and career in pharmacy practice and/or research

    Learn about the diverse job opportunities for pharmacists

    Virtually tour UHCOP labs and meet with faculty researchers in clinical and basic sciences
  • Meet Pharmacy Professionals, Researchers and Current Students
    Find out about working in different pharmacy settings from real-world practitioners, researchers and current UH Pharm.D. students
  • Remote Hands-on Activities and Live Demos
    Learn about pharmacy skills and techniques, such as patient counseling and compounding

Eligibility

  • Open to students entering Junior or Senior year of high school in fall 2021
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above on 4.0 scale
  • Math/Science cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above on 4.0 scale

Application Requirements

1. Application Form
Complete and submit Online Application Form, including Personal Essay, no later than May 10, 2021. Please do not submit registration payment with application. Non-refundable registration payment is due after notification of acceptance.

2. Unofficial or Official High School Transcript
Request most recent official or unofficial high school transcript, and email to Nekesa Sapp by the application deadline.

3. Teacher/Counselor Recommendation
Download Teacher/Counselor Recommendation Form. Applicant's parent or legal guardian must sign and date both pages of the form, then forward to teacher or counselor to complete recommendation and ask teacher/counselor to submit directly to Nekesa Sapp by May 10, 2021. Signatures of parent/guardian and teacher or counselor may done electronically or completed printed forms scanned and submitted via email.

All application materials must be received by 5:00 p.m. Monday, May 10, 2021.

Acceptance Notification and Payment

Applicants will be notified promptly after completed application package has been received and reviewed. 

Online payment for accepted student is due May 24, 2021 (instructions will be provided with notice of acceptance).
