The Latest Trends in Cosmetic Dentistry

This day and age, there are many options available to achieve a perfect smile. Our program will discuss the latest trends in cosmetic dentistry, including techniques in tooth straightening using “invisible” adult orthodontics, bleaching, cosmetic bonding, ceramic veneers, and all-ceramic crowns. Advantages and disadvantages to each treatment modality will be discussed, along with pre-and post-op photos describing each technique. We welcome questions and discussion!

Elizabeth Hunsaker, D.D.S
Dr. Elizabeth A. Hunsaker, a lifetime Houstonian and former University of Houston student, received her dental degree from the University of Texas Dental Branch at Houston. Upon graduating in 1985, she joined her father, Dr. Jerry D. Hunsaker in his family practice Dentists on Dorrington Street, located in the Texas Medical Center area. She is very active with the University of Texas School of Dentistry Alumni Association and serves on the UT Alumni Association Board and the UT Dental Advisory Board. Dr. Hunsaker is currently a member of the University Dental Study Club and the Seattle Dental Study Club. She practices full time and enjoys spending her free time with family and friends.
Kathy O’Keefe, D.D.S., M.S., P.L.L.C. (’81)
Dr. Kathy O’Keefe, a lifetime Houstonian, graduated summa cum laude from University of Houston’s College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics in 1981 with a bachelor’s degree in biology. Four years later, she received her dental degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at the Houston School of Dentistry and began her career in academics. During her tenure at UTSD, she taught in clinic and laboratory settings, lectured, mentored students, and along the way obtained her M.S. in oral biomaterials. Subsequently, she conducted research on adhesive and restorative dentistry, and has published many articles and presented research results both nationally and internationally. after a 20-year academic career, Dr. O’Keefe retired from the faculty as a tenured associate professor at the UT School of Dentistry in 2006.
She then began the second phase of her career as a full-time dentist at Dentists on Dorrington Street. She practiced there for 21 years. She is passionate about patient care and education, and enjoys getting to know her patients individually and helping them feel comfortable in the dental chair. She recently joined Contemporary Dental and to work in her hometown of Bellaire with Dr. Steven Vaughan.
In her spare time, Dr. O’Keefe enjoys spending time with her family and friends, volunteering at church, cooking, needlework, sailing, and being an avid Houston sports fan. A strong supporter of the University of Houston, she is a member of the UH College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics Dean’s Advisory Board and the Natural Sciences & Mathematics Alumni Association.
