The mathematics department at the University of Houston is pleased to announce a 2014 Research experience for undergraduates program focused on four research areas,
1. Active control of differential equations - mentored by Dr. Daniel Onofrei
2. Nonequilibrium statistical mechanics: a dynamical systems perspective - jointly mentored by Dr. Vaughn Climenhaga and Dr. William Ott
3. Optimal neuronal network architectures for spatial navigation - mentored by Dr. Zachary Kilpatrick
4. Linear Algebra aspects of Google's PageRank algorithm - mentored by Dr. Mark Tomforde.
The program will run between June 2 and July 26 and each admitted student will receive a stipend of 300$/week ($2,400 total) for the duration of the program. Please see the web-page

This REU project is a full-time job, and students accepted to the position should expect to perform 40 hours of work per week dedicated to the REU. Students who wish to participate in the REU should not have any additional employment or be enrolled in summer courses during the dates of June 2-July 26, 2014.
Participation in this program will give you the opportunity to enrich your research experience by working on supervised projects and strengthen your oral and written presentation skills.
