International Dinner Series: France
The Conrad Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management and Barron’s Restaurant present the Summer 2005 International Dinner Series. Lecture: The State of Marriage: For Better or Worse?
Best-selling author Stephanie Coontz will speak about her new book, ‘Marriage, A History: From Obedience to Intimacy, or How Love Conquered Marriage.’ Coontz uncovers the surprising history of marriage and demonstrates that the modern ideal of marriage partners as “soul mates” is a recent invention and that has made marriage less stable than in the past. 7 p.m., June 14.
