THE REVEREND DR. WILLIAM LAWSON FEATURED
SPEAKER
AT UH GRADUATE SCHOOL OF SOCIAL WORK AWARDS BREAKFAST
The Rev. Dr. William A. Lawson, retired pastor of Wheeler Avenue
Baptist Church, will be the keynote speaker at an awards breakfast
to recognize accomplishments and contributions of Houston area social
workers. With a theme of “Reconciling Our Differences: Let’s
Make It Happen,” the 5th Annual Greater Houston Area Social
Work Awards Breakfast is planned for Friday, March 4 at the UH-Hilton
Hotel.
“By pulling together all of the professional social work
organizations in the Houston area we are saying we’re all
a part of the same great cause,” said Paul Raffoul, associate
dean of the UH Graduate School of Social Work. “We will honor
and celebrate the efforts of all social workers.”
The Rev. Lawson, an ardent supporter of dialogue and collaborations,
will speak about the need to build consensus and cultivate new partnerships
for the good of the community. More than 300 area social workers
and other community leaders are expected to attend.
The University of Houston Graduate School of Social Work is a sponsor
of the event, which will feature the award for Social Worker of
