AFRICAN AMERICAN CULTURE CELEBRATED AT
UH WITH A LITTLE ‘CHICKEN SOUP’
Author Lisa Nichols will read and sign copies of her book “Chicken
Soup for the African American Soul” as part of Black History
Month observances at the University of Houston. The event, sponsored
by the Urban Experience Program and the Counseling & Psychological
Services, is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 3 in the Cullen
Performance Hall. Refreshments will be served before Nichols’
presentation.
Nichols is the founder and president of “Motivating the Masses,”
a self-esteem workshop for adults, and of “Motivating the
Teen Spirit,” a comprehensive program for teen self-development.
She is a self-proclaimed motivational speaker and advocate of personal
empowerment.
“I know that we are built from strong roots, but this book
was an amazing reminder of both how strong and determined we are,”
said Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee.
After her reading, Nichols will be available to sign copies of
her book. Books will also be available for sale.
