LGBTQ Resource Center at the University of Houston is honored to have been selected as one of the beneficiaries of The Diana Foundation for 2017-2018. This philanthropic foundation will generously donate up to $3,000 for student leaders to attend next year’s National LGBTQ Task Force, Creating Change Conference.
This conference helps student leaders gain knowledge and skills that they implement within their student organizations and beyond. Upon return from the conference, prior attendees have started initiatives such as a Gender Diversity Living Learn Community and ally training for fraternities and sororities.
The director of the LGBTQ Center says that “Hearing from the students, it is evident that the conference prepares them to be future leaders in the fight for LGBTQ equality. We are thankful that the Diana Foundation recognizes the far reaching benefits of supporting this endeavor”. The university is proud to announce that this is the third year in which the Diana Foundation has supported the LGBTQ Resource Center, and we are confident that there will be many more years ahead.
The UH LGBTQ Resource Center provides support and a safe space for LGBTQ students to access resources, ask questions, and make connections with other students. Through visibility and education, they seek to create an environment of LGBTQ acceptance and inclusion for the entire campus community. Services include a lending library, mentoring program, Cougar Ally Training, and discussion groups.
