Interim Co-Directors

Jamie Gonzales

Jamie Gonzales (she/her) currently serves as one of two interim co-directors for the LGBTQ Resource Center as well as a career counselor with University Career Services, a pre-law advisor, and an instructor for Liberal Arts Career Planning (LACP2111). She is a first-generation college graduate who proudly earned her Master's degree (M.Ed) in Higher Education from the University of Houston and her Bachelor of Arts in Government with a minor in American Sign Language from the University of Texas at Austin.

Prior to her time at UCS, she was a team member with the UH LGBTQ Resource Center (2016-2020) and UH Center for Diversity and Inclusion (2014-2016). Jamie taught Intro to LGBTQ Studies in the UH Women, Gender, & Sexuality Studies department and advises Gamma Rho Lambda Sorority's Kappa Chapter. She has received certifications with Strong Interest Inventory and the Intercultural Development Inventory, LLC.

Outside of campus, Jamie values serving her local community in various capacities such as being a Co-Director for New Leaders Council-Houston and a board member for the City of Houston's LGBTQ Advisory Board.

Michael Crook

Michael Crook (he/him) currently serves as one of two interim co-directors for the LGBTQ Resource Center as well as an Assistant Director in the Center for Diversity and Inclusion. In his role, he serves as part of the Center’s leadership team, is responsible for the daily operations of the Center and student employees, oversees assessment initiatives, develops and manages academic partnerships, and supports the diversity education programs and initiatives that come from the Center. He is certified as a qualified administrator with the Intercultural Development Inventory, LLC and is a Gallup Certified Strengths Coach. He received a Master of Arts in student affairs administration and graduate certificate for teaching and learning from Michigan State University in 2012, and a Bachelor of Arts in speech and communication and a minor in business administration from Colorado State University in 2008. He was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and was raised in a multi-cultural, small-business owning, military family. He loves music, running, and playing volleyball.
