Written by Bertolt Brecht
Adapted by Alistair Beaton
Directed by Justin Lucero

In the heat of civil war, servant girl Grusha sacrifices everything to protect an abandoned noble child, but when peace is finally restored, the boy’s greedy mother comes to reclaim him. Enter Azdak, the very unconventional, very comical judge who calls upon the ancient tradition of the Chalk Circle to settle the dispute once and for all. Simultaneously epic and intimate, “The Caucasian Chalk Circle” imaginatively combines music and theatrics to explore human survival, justice, sacrifice and love.
