Link to audition application: Audition Form

Some information you will need in order to fill out the audition application:

SAT/ACT scores
For high school students, a school counselor’s email address and phone number are required to verify SAT/ACT scores and GPA.

Audition Video Requirements

For the audition video we are asking to see your current level of ability in ballet and modern/contemporary dance. Please wear appropriate dance class attire, pull your hair up, make sure we can see you from head to toe and make sure your video is of good viewing quality. You will upload the video into the online application. PLEASE NOTE – once you click “submit” on your application, you will not be allowed to make edits, so your video must be attached before you click “submit” on the entire application.

We are asking you to do the best you can with the space that you have available.

Each segment need be no longer than 5 minutes. The application does allow more than one video upload, so you can upload each segment individually or combine into one video.

Ballet Segment (find something to hold onto)

We need to see your body alignment from the front and side. Do some plies, some legwork, maybe a little center work. If you have some ballet background, show us that. If you do not have ballet training we still want to see how you would currently move through a ballet barre warm up, so find a professional ballet class on Youtube, try some of the moves you see them doing at the barre.

Center/Across the Floor Modern/Contemporary Segment

Make yourself a combination or two that you can repeat, like you would normally do in a technique class. If you do not have modern/contemporary dance training, find some professional modern/contemporary class videos on Youtube and “take” those classes prior to making your audition video.

We would like to see the following skills (in no particular order):

  1. Floorwork (can include back rolls, slides of various kinds)
  2. Inversions like handstands, cartwheels
  3. Turns of any kind
  4. Moves that go down to the floor and back up to standing
  5. Traveling such as chasses, triplets, modern dance runs
  6. Leaps, hops, jumps of any kind
  7. Changing of directions
  8. Rapid and/or complex foot moves of your choice
  9. Also show your artistry, show some performance qualities
  10. Feel free to include any unique skills that you may have
