Fanfare Magazine lauded Yan Shen’s performances on her solo album, FANTASY|SONATA|ELEGY, for “bravura,” “flair,” “subtlety,” “clarity,” “intellectual curiosity,” “sensitivity,” “technical prowess,” and many more glowing terms pointing to her nuanced and mature artistry. Since then, she has been named a “Kawai KPG Artist.”
As a former tenured piano faculty member of the Guang Zhou Conservatory of Music, China, Yan Shen, holds a Doctoral degree of piano of University of Houston’s Moores School of Music and she is currently, pursuing an Artist Diploma in Solo Piano Performance at the Moores School.
As a prize winner of multiple international competitions, Dr. Shen has performed internationally as a concert pianist, including multiple cities in China, HK, Korea, France, Swizerland, Colombia, she also work as a chamber musician and voice coach.
Dr. Shen’s engagements in the 2016/2017 season include: performances of Mozart’s Piano Concerto, K242 and Bach’s Triple Piano Concerto with the Hong Kong Metropolitan Orchestra; performance of Schumann’s Piano Concerto with Houston North Symphony, solo piano recitals and master classes in Da Lian, Qing Dao and Lan Zhou in China.
