Michael Fortner, from Houston, Texas, began the bass at age 10. His principal teachers include
Christopher Burns, Donald Howey, and Eric Larson. He has previously attended the American Festival of
the Arts, two Wabass Workshops with Ranaan Meyer, the Boston University Tanglewood Institute, and
the 2015 Domaine Forget Academy in Quebec, Canada, where he studied with Francois Rabbath, Paul
Ellison, and Etienne Lafrance. He is currently enrolled at the University of Southern California in Los
Angeles where he is a member of the bass studio of David Allen Moore.
