Jakob Gerritsen currently resides in Chicago, where he is pursuing both a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance under Andy Raciti and a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics at Northwestern University. Originally from Carpentersville, Illinois, Jakob began studying double bass at the age of ten and went on to study with Tim Shaffer throughout high school. Since then, he has served as the principal bassist of the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra, assistant principal of the ILMEA Honor’s Orchestra, assistant principal of the Chicago Youth in Music Festival, and is currently a member of the Northwestern University Symphony Orchestra under Victor Yampolsky.
