Jacob Diaz is currently an undergraduate studying at Indiana University under the instruction of Kurt Muroki. Hailing from El Paso, Texas, Jacob began his journey with the double bass at the age of ten. He continued his studies under the guidance of his longtime mentor Erik Unsworth. He has previously held section bass positions in the Las Cruces Symphony and the El Paso Symphony for their 2015–2016 seasons. Jacob is a recipient of the Premier Young Artist Award at Indiana University, where he will return for his second year of studies in the fall.
