Collegium Musicum

The Collegium Musicum of the Moores School of Music was formed in 1996 by its director, Matthew Dirst. The Collegium consists of students and community singers and instrumentalists who have a particular interest in ensemble music from the Middle Ages through the 18th century. Highlights of recent seasons include the critically acclaimed Houston premiere of John Blow's Venus and Adonis, staged presentations of Hildegard of Bingen's Ordo Virtutum, Monteverdi's Combatimento di Tancredi e Clorinda, Bach's Coffee Cantata, and the group's debut at the International Festival-Institute at Round Top. Performances during the last two years have included Handel's Acis and Galatea for the Houston Symphony Baroque Festival, Jacopo Peri's Euridice, the American premiere of Handel's Il Trionfo del Tempo e della Verità, and Alessandro

Scarlatti's Cain: The First Murder.
