Connecting Life-Long Students of Music

The Community Arts Academy provides a comprehensive approach to musical instruction for students ages 6 and older, with access to Moores School of Music resources and a holistic approach for the study of piano, voice, and violin. Our classes are centered around peer-learning, theory, and prioritizing individual goals. Students have access to multiple collegiate-level performance opportunities that are exclusive to the University of Houston. CAA is a non-credit, non-degree granting program.

students learning the craft of their instrument while also learning fundamentals of musicianship – including ear training, music theory, and elements of history – that build a strong foundation for life-long learning and appreciation of the arts.

CAA’s success is tied to providing mentored opportunities for our graduate students as they gain practical teaching experience through CAA. With the guidance of our faculty affiliates and the Moores School of Music faculty, we are creating a school-based environment where our graduate students can implement the pedagogical frameworks learned in MSM.

We offer three semesters of study throughout the year. Spring and fall semesters are 14 weeks; summer is 7 week terms. Fall 2019 semester begins August 26.
