Russell Peggy

Peggy Russell (Flute) has been a member of the flute section of the Houston Ballet Orchestra since 1984. She has performed with other ensembles in Houston over the years, including the Bach Society Orchestra, Houston Grand Opera Orchestra, Winds of Texas Woodwind Quintet, and the Houston Baroque Ensemble. Ms. Russell is also a frequent clinician in Houston area schools. Ms. Russell has performed at the NFA Convention in Chicago (2015) and will perform again this summer at the convention in Minneapolis. Ms. Russell has presented several masterclasses for the Houston Flute Club as well as Houston area schools. She presented an All State Masterclass for the Houston Flute Club (2015) and teaches at the Annual "UH Flute Day," a day of All-State etudes classes and recruitment for the flute department. Professor Russell is a frequent guest clinician and performer at Houston "Floote Fire." She received a BM (1976) from Oberlin Conservatory where she studied with Robert Willoughby. She received a MM (1978) in flute performance studying with James Pellerite and Kenton Terry. Her teachers include Claire Johnson, John Heiss, Eddie Green and Keith Underwood.
